The Film Room: Watch how well Robert Griffin III played in 1st game with Browns

Edit: If the video does not display, you have to click the “Watch on YouTube” button or follow this link here.

After Kirk Cousins won the starting quarterback job in Washington, D.C. from incumbent Robert Griffin III, RG3 was deemed expendable and was cut the following offseason. He signed a two-year deal with the Cleveland Browns to compete with Josh McCown for the starting quarterback position, which he had already won before this week’s game.

In this video breakdown, I looked at RGIII’s first eight passing attempts in the Browns’ first preseason game of the year.

Although, RG3’s stats appear to be poor completing only fifty percent of them while also throwing an interception, he actually played pretty well in making quick decisions. Also, as discussed in the video, the interception was not his fault as tight end Gary Barnidge did not run his route correctly.

While these eight passes are far from conclusive evidence that RG3 will perform well this season, it should give Browns fans hope as long as he can remain healthy.
