When Kyle Shanahan became the 49ers head coach, many were concerned that Carlos Hyde wouldn’t be a good fit in his scheme. He’s a thick bodied runner and had a tendency to dance behind the line of scrimmage. In an outside zone system, those traits combined with concerns over his vision really made people worry. Well, this past Sunday, he gained 124 rushing yards on just 15 carries (8.3 ypc). In this video breakdown, I analyzed his fit in this scheme and looked at a few of his plays from this game and his game against the Panthers.
