Scouting Report: Devin Bush, LB, Michigan

Here is my scouting report on Devin Bush, LB out of Michigan:

  • Incredibly quick
  • Freak athlete
  • Lays the hammer and hits well
  • Average hustle even though he has sideline-to-sideline speed
  • Pursuit angles need to be worked on.
  • Can knife through blocking paths and people with ease
  • Can blitz off the edge or through the A-gap
  • Want him to use his hands better to get rid of trash at his feet
  • Played a lot in zone coverage but has elite man coverage fluidity to cover TEs and RBs
  • Good read-to-react for determining run versus pass and pass versus run
  • He doesn’t like to take on blocks from OL head-on
  • Has to fix issues with angles and how it corresponds to tackling (at feet or missing)
  • Going to miss tackles in the NFL dealing with NFL speed but he has the upside with his pass coverage ability
  • Drop him as your Mo or WILL LB and he’s going to be amazing in that role
  • Can carry seam receivers down the field

Sam founded NFL Breakdowns after working his way through the journalist farm system and is enjoying life in the big league. Growing up outside of Washington, D.C., Sam didn’t choose the Redskins, the Redskins chose him. Out of a love for the game and an insatiable curiosity to determine why his beloved team was underperforming, Sam turned to studying film in NFL Breakdowns.
