After a painful three and a half quarters, the Seahawks finally started clicking and put together some drives starting in Play 33 with 2:36 left in the fourth quarter.
Play 33
Situation: 2nd and 5 at GB 5
Description: Q4 - (2:36) (No Huddle, Shotgun) R.Wilson scrambles left tackle to GB 1 for 4 yards (H.Clinton-Dix).
*33 - QB Draw, if he had the option to throw he could have had 85 wide open in back of endzone for TD, score on next play
In Play 33, Wilson scrambles up the middle of the pocket to get to the 1 yard line. Even though the Seahawks scored on the following play, Wilson actually could have scored if he looked into the back of the endzone as opposed to purely scrambling. Watch the wide receiver running around the back of the endzone.

If Wilson can recognize that the interior zones are crashing because of his scrambling he has a free touchdown and wouldn’t have taken a hit.
Note: This may have been a designed QB draw, but I think based on the routes it was not though.
Play 34
Situation: 3rd and 1 at GB 1
Description: Q4 - (2:13) (No Huddle, Shotgun) R.Wilson left tackle for 1 yard, TOUCHDOWN. S.Hauschka extra point is GOOD, Center-C.Gresham, Holder-J.Ryan.
As said in the previous play, Play 34 goes for a touchdown. Watch as LB96 Neal gets pulled inside on the zone read-option.

Play 37
Situation: 1st and 2 at GB 2
Description: Q4 - (1:25) Two Point Conversion Attempt. R.Wilson pass to L.Willson is complete. ATTEMPT SUCCEEDS.
After the touchdown in Play 34, the Seahawks kick the extra point and then go for the onside kick. They end up scoring again almost 45 seconds later. This is the two point conversion throw by Wilson.
This might be the only play that I don’t like from Wilson in the final two minutes and overtime period. In this play, Wilson focuses too much on the interior receivers who are heavily covered by their respective defenders while also LB56 Peppers is clogging his throwing lane.

Watch the outside right wide receiver gain separation. Wilson needs to complete his progressions and find the correct receiver on the play. This is a pee-wee league throw with terrible footwork off the backfoot across the body that in ANY circumstance besides a 2-PT conversion would make you instantly lose your job. In this play, FS21 Clinton-Dix waits too long to attack the ball and allows TE82 Willson to take it in for the score. Very lucky.
Play 40
Situation: 3rd and 7 at SEA 30
Description: OT - (12:36) (Shotgun) R.Wilson pass deep right to D.Baldwin to GB 35 for 35 yards (C.Hayward).
This one of my favorite throws by Wilson all day and it happens right when the Seahawks need it on 3rd and 7 in overtime. Wilson has Baldwin in the right slot who runs a go route to the sideline. The Packers are in Cover 1 Robber and the safeties are completely out of the play, so Baldwin just has to beat his defender in man-coverage. Watch how Baldwin steps off of the line and the defender thinks Baldwin is going inside. This completely opens the right side of the field which Baldwin takes off gaining separation on CB29 Hayward.
Wilson takes the snap from shotgun and displays beautiful footwork stepping into his throw to lob the ball to Baldwin by the sideline. For how many underthrown deep balls I’ve seen last week, this was literally a perfect throw that allows the Seahawks to continue their drive. Great play.
Play 41
Situation: 1st and 10 at GB 35
Description: OT - (11:49) Russell Wilson 35 Yd pass to Jermaine Kearse 35 Yd TD
This is the final play of the game. Most have seen this play, but let’s take a look at how Wilson executed this play. On 1st and 10 on the Packers’ 35 yard line the Packers defense was expecting a run from the pistol formation. The Seahawks line up with two TE’s on opposite sides of the line of scrimmage while only having two WRs split out wide. SS28 Richardson is playing in the box expecting a run, while the Packers leave no man in deep coverage as safety help.

In this defensive formation the Packers essentially sold out to stop the run making it a man vs. man situation with Kearse and CB29 Hayward. Wilson takes the snap and looks at the middle of the field to see what the safety is doing. Since SS28 Richardson is playing in the box Wilson immediately looks deep to find WR15 Kearse on the go-route. Wilson places the ball perfectly in front of him for the touchdown. Great recognition of the coverage by Wilson and to execute a perfectly thrown deep pass.
Overall, Wilson didn’t fare too well against the Cover 1 defense and you can expect to see some of that by the Patriots in the Superbowl. Wilson also had a few bad moments where he held onto the ball too long and didn’t progress through his reads. A lot of his plays seemed to be result from the slippery conditions of Seattle though, as he eventually made the important passes to lead his team to the victory over the Packers.
