Scouting Report: Alvin Bud Dupree, DE/OLB, Kentucky

5. Tackling

Tackling seemed to be an issue for Dupree. After play-action, Dupree attacks the ballcarrier and doesn’t wrap him up. Dupree slides off of him barely impacting him.

In space, Dupree tends to overpursue and loses the correct angle to make the tackle. The RB beats him back inside with a good juke move.

Dupree is also susceptible to cut blocks when he overpursues right off the snap.

Here again Dupree shows contain well against a mobile quarterback, but he overpursues which puts him out-of-position to make the tackle. He attempts to wrap up the ball-carrier, but slides right off.

6. Opportunity Plays

Out of all the pass rushers in this draft that I’ve analyzed so far, Dupree seems to be the best at taking advantage of poor blocking technique and missed blocking assignments for big plays. Against #22 Louisville, I haven’t seen as many missed blocking assignments and free shots at the QB or RB in a long time. In this play Dupree benefits from a missed blocking assignment between the LG and LT. Dupree took advantage of opportunity to get the sack.

Here again Dupree takes advtange of missed assignments. Logjamming TE needs to trap block Dupree, while RT needs to block out edge rusher at the top of your screen. Missed blocking assignments with pulling blockers happened multiple times for the Louisville offense in this match-up.

Dupree has a good forced fumble on RB from unblocked path. Took advantage of his opportunity again
