A closer look at why Jimmy Graham is officially back

Jimmy Graham broke the century mark for the first time since tearing his right patellar tendon versus the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. In this game, Russell Wilson targeted Graham nine times where he caught six of them for 100 yards and a touchdown.

In this video breakdown, I looked closely at Jimmy Graham’s 100-yard performance breaking down how he used his size as a mismatch and some of his mistakes versus the San Francisco 49ers.

While Doug Baldwin was the most targeted receiver by the Seahawks, receiving ten looks, Jimmy Graham wasn’t far behind; these are clearly Wilson’s go-to guys, at least until Tyler Lockett is back at 100% health. Even then, Wilson may not feel a need to divert from these two outstanding players. Breaking down Baldwin’s targets, five were actually thrown by Trevone Boykin, while all nine of Graham’s targets were thrown by Russell Wilson. It’s clear Wilson trusts Graham going forward.

Does that mean Graham will consistently produce going forward? In my opinion no. The Seahawks are still a run-first team, but Graham will certainly be an important target on third downs and in the endzone, though.
