Holding a seven point lead the Jets offense stalled two times in a row allowing the Patriots to tie up the game. Then, given one last opportunity to move down the field, the Jets were unable to get out of their own territory again and the game was forced into overtime. With their opponent gaining only two first downs in their last three drives, Bill Bellichick chose to kick the ball back to the Jets offense. This is that drive.

1st and 10 at NYJ 20 (15:00 - OT) (Shotgun) C.Ivory left end to NYJ 22 for 2 yards (J.Richards).

Jets are in 10 personnel with a 2×1 set, while the Patriots are in a nickel package.

Before the snap, Kenbrell Thompkins goes in motion from his outermost WR spot on the left side and runs directly into DE Chandler Jones, somehow managing to actually block him and hold him up at his spot. Because Thompkins takes on the end, this allows the LT and H-back Quincy Enunwa to become the lead blockers on the play. Originally, Enunwa is aiming to hit the safety #37 as he heads outside but CB #21 gets the right angle that forces Enunwa to adjust in order to make sure Ivory doesn’t get hit in the backfield.… Article continues here

Following a road win against the Indianapolis Colts, Todd Bowles named Ryan Fitzpatrick the starter for “even when Geno Smith returns.” Following that statement, Fitzpatrick would lead the Jets in a 24-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles where many of his same issues from the previous week rose again but this time the Jets were unable to overcome them. We’ll look at some of the good and bad from Fitzpatrick’s week 3 game.

Ryan Fitzpatrick’s Beard AKA the Good Parts of Ryan Fitzpatrick

In comparison to Fitzpatrick’s week 2 Jets game against the Colts where he stalled the offense repeatedly and seemed to get carried by his scheme and supporting cast (on both sides of the ball) this time around Fitzpatrick actually showed some better individual plays.… Article continues here

Going on the road against a heavily understaffed Indianapolis Colts team, the fate of this game was left in the air for the Jets. Let’s take a look at all of Ryan Fitzpatrick plays leading up to and including that final drive that sealed this win.
