1-4-BUF 4 (Q2, 6:23) (Shotgun) 5-T.Bridgewater pass short left to 84-C.Patterson for 4 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
This is a pretty simple throw for Bridgewater on his first passing TD of his career. All he has to do is throw a catchable ball to Patterson on the bubble screen, and the receiver does the rest. The blitzing DB does make the throw a bit more difficult because of the threat of getting the ball knocked down, but in general this is a pretty easy throw.
3-6-TB 17 (Q3, 7:17) (Shotgun) 5-T.Bridgewater pass deep right to 15-G.Jennings for 17 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
On this play, DT Gerald McCoy beats RG Joe Berger really badly with a swim move. However, Greg Jennings helps him out, getting behind the CB. This allows Bridgewater to get the pass off, and it is a very good one. The throw drops in over the CB and also leads Jennings toward the corner of the endzone away from the charging safety. It’s perfect ball placement that allows Jennings to have an easy catch. This would be a great throw without pressure, and the fact that Bridgewater has one of the best interior linemen in the league in his face adds even more.
3-6-WAS 20 (Q2, :41) (Q2, Shotgun) 5-T.Bridgewater pass deep left to 86-C.Ford for 20 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
On this play, the Redskins are running a cover 3. At first glance, you might blame Ryan Clark for not following Ford, but his responsibility is the sideline around the first down marker. The CB at the bottom of the screen should have the deep zone, but he gets tied up with the receiver running a post route, so there’s nobody to cover Ford. Clark realizes this too late, at Bridgewater throws to the wide open TD for a relatively easy TD. Ford has to backtrack more towards the middle of the field but it’s good that Teddy kept the ball in play. All-in-all it was a good catch and throw but nothing special.
1-7-CHI 7 (Q1, 3:21) 5-T.Bridgewater pass short right to 85-R.Ellison for 7 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
The Vikings run a PA, faking a stretch to the left. The entire Bears’ defense bites, and Bridgewater and Ellison are both completely clean on the bootleg. From there it’s an easy pitch and catch for the TD. The throw to Ellison is on target, it’s not too far in front or behind.
1-10-GB 22 (Q2, 11:12) (Shotgun) 5-T.Bridgewater pass deep right to 12-Ch.Johnson for 22 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
This is the first look Vikings fans really got at Charles Johnson, who looks promising for 2015. Here he burns the CB at the line of scrimmage and gets behind him. Bridgewater is once again on target for a nice TD.
2-5-GB 5 (Q4, 3:28) (Shotgun) 5-T.Bridgewater pass short left to 15-G.Jennings for 5 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
The Packers go all out trying to get the QB, rushing seven. The Vikings’ line does not do a good job, and three rushers get close to Bridgewater. Fortunately for the Vikings, however, the blitz leaves the Packers scarce in coverage and Jennings ends up wide open. Bridgewater floats a pass to him for the TD.
2-4-CAR 4 (Q1, 9:46) 5-T.Bridgewater pass short right to 82-K.Rudolph for 4 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
Another bootleg. The Panthers don’t bite as badly as the Bears did, but they do forget about Rudolph. He gets open towards the back of the endzone and it’s another relatively easy TD throw for Bridgewater.
2-10-CAR 17 (Q2, :23) (Shotgun) 5-T.Bridgewater pass short left to 15-G.Jennings for 17 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
Jennings is running an out route and the CB who is in zone coverage overtop plays too closely to the sideline. It’s an easy throw for Bridgewater and Jennings makes the catch then makes the CB pay by cutting back to the inside and takes it into the endzone.
1-10-MIN 44 (Q1, 6:01) (Shotgun) 5-T.Bridgewater pass deep right to 12-Ch.Johnson for 56 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
First let’s take a look at the DL. The Jets run a stunt between their two DTs, and the LDE rushes to the inside. While the stunt is picked up, the DE isn’t. Bridgewater does a nice job climbing up in the pocket to avoid the pressure. Now look at Johnson. Around the first down marker, he executes a double move that gets the corner to bite. From there, he gets about four yards of separation on the CB which is a mile in the NFL. Bridgewater makes a very nice throw and hits Johnson in stride for a long TD.
3-5-MIN 13 (OT, 10:35) (Shotgun) 5-T.Bridgewater pass short right to 17-J.Wright for 87 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
Rex Ryan likes to blitz. Screens are very effective against blitzes. It’s 3rd down in OT, and when Ryan chooses to blitz the Vikings counter with a screen. Teddy’s throw is high, but Wright makes the catch, makes a defender miss, and then outruns everyone else to the house for a game-winning TD.
