Offensive Formation: Shotgun Empty-Set Bunch Right - “Rudy” Call
Offensive Personnel: 01

WR19 LaFell runs a stop-n-go route to the endzone and Brady places it perfectly to the sideline where only LaFell can get it.

Play 30
Situation: 1st and 10 at NE 31
Description: Q4 - (8:53) T.Brady pass short middle to J.Edelman for 69 yards, TOUCHDOWN. S.Gostkowski extra point is GOOD, Center-D.Aiken, Holder-R.Allen.
Opponent: 14. SD

Offensive Formation: Singleback Jumbo
Offensive Personnel: 12
Defensive Formation: Cover 1 Robber with two underneath zone linebackers

Brady in singleback snaps the ball from under center and fakes a handoff to RB29 Blount. WR11 Edleman runs a post route, while WR19 LaFell runs a post-corner route. This is a two man concept using play-action to open up the middle of the field by drawing in the linebackers. Brady hits Edleman over the middle of the field and Edleman breaks some tackles for a long touchdown.

Play 34
Situation: 3rd and 4 at BAL 4
Description: Q1 - (:54) (Shotgun) T.Brady scrambles up the middle for 4 yards, TOUCHDOWN. NE 12-Brady 5th career postseason rush TD, ties Curtis Martin for franchise record. S.Gostkowski extra point is GOOD, Center-D.Aiken, Holder-R.Allen. NE 3-Gostkowski now has 100 career postseason points, 7th kicker in NFL history with 100 postseason points.
Opponent: 19. BAL (DIV)

In this play, Brady scrambles up the middle of the defense while all of his receivers are covered for his only touchdown run of the season.

Play 37
Situation: 1st and 10 at BAL 23
Description: Q4 - (5:21) (No Huddle, Shotgun) T.Brady pass deep left to B.LaFell for 23 yards, TOUCHDOWN. NE 12-Brady 46th career postseason pass TD, most all-time. NE 12-Brady 367 pass yds, new franchise postseason game record (Brady 363 in 2011 Divisional Playoff vs Denver). NE 12-Brady 33 completions, new franchise postseason game record.S.Gostkowski extra point is GOOD, Center-D.Aiken, Holder-R.Allen.
Opponent: 19. BAL (DIV)

Offensive Formation: Shotgun Slot Right Far - “Lace” Call
Offensive Personnel: 11
Defensive Formation: Cover 1 with two underneath linebackers and man-to-man coverage by CBs.

Brady in shotgun instantly finds WR19 LaFell on a go-route. LaFell takes the outside path while his defender CB38 Melvin attempts to press him up the sideline, but doesn’t get his hands on LaFell due to his quickness. LaFell instantly slips by Melvin and Brady places the ball perfectly over the beaten defender for a long touchdown strike on 1st down. Give credit to LaFell for a great release against press-man coverage and Brady for the pefect ball placement on the long go route touchdown.

Play 38
Situation: 2nd and 1 at IND 1
Description: Q1 - (1:25) T.Brady pass short right to J.Develin for 1 yard, TOUCHDOWN. S.Gostkowski extra point is GOOD, Center-D.Aiken, Holder-R.Allen.
Opponent: 20. IND (CONF)

Offensive Formation: Offset-I “Far LT” Call
Offensive Personnel: 22
Defensive Formation: Goalline Triple Zones

This play is similar to Play 5 with the multiple motions to and formation changes to spread out the defense. If you watch the left side of the play notice how the changes in formations overloads the left half of the endzone resulting in a wide open receiver. With how many motions I’m a little bit surprised Brady went to FB Develin for the quick pass, but it still worked for a touchdown.

Play 39
Situation: 3rd and 1 at IND 16
Description: Q3 - (10:10) N.Solder reported in as eligible. T.Brady pass short left to N.Solder for 16 yards, TOUCHDOWN. NE 77-Solder 1st NFL TD.S.Gostkowski extra point is GOOD, Center-D.Aiken, Holder-R.Allen.
Opponent: 20. IND (CONF)

Offensive Formation: Singleback
Offensive Personnel: 12
Defensive Formation: Cover 1 with two underneath linebackers and man-to-man coverage by CBs.

This is one of the plays that drew national attention for using an offensive lineman as a pass catching threat in the AFC Championship. In this play, LT77 Solder reports as eligible on the left side of the offensive line. He fakes like he is blocking and then runs a crease route to the left side of the field finding the wide open space for Brady. WR19 LaFell lining up as the left wide out runs a post route over the middle of the field to draw the secondary away from Solder

Overall, the impressive thing about Brady’s touchdowns was just how great his pocket precense truly is. This is what makes him one of the best quarterbacks in the league combined with typically great ball placement. Brady does have a habit of forcing throws as seen in his interceptions (found here), but these mistakes were limited to only 13 times throughout an entire season plus three postseason appearances against great defenses.
